Riverside Adventure

So my summer so far has consisted of laying in bed all day and knitting. I know everyone thinks how nice it must be to have this schedule, well it’s not. I am bored beyond belief. There is only so much nothing that one can do. I wish I could get a job, but every place around me isn’t hiring, or if they are I have to be eighteen, and I’m not yet eighteen. Any how this week was pretty fun, compared to all the other days.

Monday I was whisked away to lunch at the California Pizza Kitchen, and  invited to go swimming and hangout with some friends, and that was fun. Then on Tuesday I made plans to be reunited with one of best friends Kaili, we had sushi and went out for ice cream. Talked for hours, it was so nice. And on Wednesday I had a blast on one of the funnest adventures this summer.

Ravelry is a great place to meet people, we all know that. Well a few years ago I introduced myself to a certain Raveler, CraftyPancakes, I saw that she lived relatively close to me and I had always wanted to meet her. We’ve talked for years about meeting up and we finally did! This Wednesday I had the pleasure of finally meeting Megann, CraftyPancakes, and I tell you I had no idea how much fun meeting her was going to be.

We both live about an hour and half away from each other, so we met in the middle at Designer HandKnits, a nice little yarn shop, with a convenient coffee shop, that sells amazing blended coffee. We grabbed some and sat in the court yard and talked for an hour and got to know each other. We then made our way into the yarn shop and made a few a purchases. We then drove to another shop located a block from the Mission Inn Hotel, we were expecting this little slit in the wall, since it was in the city. We were amazed to find this yarn shop, Rain Cross Fibers, was located in this huge studio, Aurea Vista, and it was nice. The studio was a co-op for all types of small business owners to sell their handmade goods. We also made some stash enhancements there.

We ate lunch at Simple Simon’s Bakery, which is amazing! Great food, with an awesome atmosphere. Before walking into the bakery, Megann spotted a Cupcake Wars winner cupcake shop, Casey’s Cupcakes, so of course we had to go there. Let me tell you, this shop has some of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. We then walked around the area, went into a few antique shops and then sat down in a shaded area. We were talking, knitting, and enjoying each other’s company. After talking with her for those few hours, I felt as if I had known her for years. I’m so very happy I got to meet you Megann.

I hope you all enjoy this first official day of summer! As always I’ll leave you with a quote.

I love meeting new people; I think everyone has a story to tell. We should all listen sometimes.
